So I do this exercise each morning when i wake up where I open a blank document in word and keep typing whatever comes into my mind until the page is filled. The key is not to think about what you’re writing. I find it really opens up what is inside and leads to some pretty cool ideas for songs. Here’s one of my latest entries:

Finding time to spend with my mind seems to slip out every time that I try to enjoy a peaceful setting in music land going on about things that don’t matter and believe that you will one day own the key to the thoughts in your head above all else that matters you can never know how things will turn out until you actually visually take them in. into your head and swirling like the water in your mind. Finding time, finding time, again, again, again. All alone on this road to loneliness yes, I’ve done that before, said these words like they were my last and enjoyed it till it stopped. Stopped I don’t know why but it did and I just keep going for longer times have passed down the road and into the heart of the land. Walking for miles that I don’t know how to imagine, units flying by that I can’t comprehend. Losing touch with reality and feeling good about it. No worries. No troubles. Sea anemone. Spelling. I wish to be in the air floating on the clouds do you see them anymore I cant seem to see them as it tickles my back bringing back memories of past words written in this manner if you believe it they will come. If you steal it you can say it was yours to begin with but only if you get caught and then you might have the excuse to let them go tell it on the mountain of over joy distilling memories in the water of time and losing them to the evaporating you’s and oh’s and IOU’s. focus is a thing of the past. Can you see through the blur words that I cant see if I try but now I know that I can if I want and its mine so you can interpret it the way you want filling filling filling tataratat rapping on the door who’s there I know its someone with news of the past sitting in the chair disclosing information of times that came to be even though we tried to stop them what’s done is done in the end it doesn’t really matter anymore lying in the ground try to be happier for me it was all down hill anyway underneath the table rolling on the floor picking up crumbs from the emms and the bees together legs on the wood cracks not to step on breaking the stubborn silence with the crack in the air breaking the sound barrier with the crack of the whip oh no I felt it before I heard it and reacted after it all too long to do but I must enjoy it while I can let my mind wander as I write for the end of my existence as I float in the sea, the dead sea salt chips all around on the surface of it all green grass high tides slippery slopes and my bride oh oh oh I can feel it now calling in the air tonight getting better getting faster slowly increasing in speed but still increasing slower only to find that by the time you get there the momentum will carry you past where you want to go and by that time you cant slow it down cause you wont know how anymore, losing all control you hit the wall you said you’d never get to and it will fall on you. Not in the sense that you can now go through it, but in the sense that you cannot get up from it. Time will stop. Words will fall with the wall. Floating in the air as they usually do. Waiting to vibrate in someone’s head or in a mountain and slowly die as the oscillations go through their circle of life and fade into the ether that they were formed in, be it metal, water, or air. Oxford comma’s bringing up the rear and always being used in the most obvious of places, not making anymore sense than they need to but just enough to get the point across and now I can sleep soundly as the sentences start to combine to make perfect essences of the words they are made up of. Swirling in the pages of scripts that were blessed to be writing on rather that burned or sat on and hold the knowledge of the generation that they have blessed in turn.

The time has come! Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, and countless other social networks have been covered. Words have spread, though small they may be, and another door must be opened. This door: blogging.

I plan to share some ideas, insights, and daily musings in hopes that others will be inspired by what they read. Now I’m not going to get all crazy philosophical with you. Well, maybe. But sometimes inspiration can come from the small things. Things that aren’t normally noticed in the daily rush.

But I will get right to it. My name is Graham. I play music. My band’s name is Day Cart. Yes, this is a play on words of the philosopher Renee Descartes. As much as I hate to pigeon hole things, I’d say the music is modern/acoustic/indie/folk/rock/pop. Not much of a generalization there but oh well.

I’ll leave you with a music video for one of my songs called Love From The Lime Trees

Cheers
